Humantay Lake Trek is an extremely scenic two day hike to Humantay Lake through the local indigenous villages of Iscuchaca and Limatambo keeping the Inca traditions alive. The lake is situated at the base of the majestic glacier covered Salkantay Mountain Range. The views are absolutely breath taking. On the second day, you hike to the highest point of the trek (4,650m/15,367ft). From this vantage point, you can take in nature at its purest form, feeling at one with the massive Salkantay, Humantay, and Huayanay snowcapped mountains surrounding you. Finally, you take a detour off the main trail to the panoramic and truly exquisite turquoise Salkantay Lake. On this two day adventure, you enjoy the peacefulness of nature and at the same time its exquisite beauty.
At 5am, we pick you up at your hotel and drive in our private van for 3.5-hours to Soraypampa. Along the way, you can enjoy viewing some of local indigenous villages such as Iscuchaca and Limatambo. In addition, you will have spectacular views of stunning valleys and the snow-capped famous Salkantay Mountains. At the trailhead (Soraypampa), we enjoy some snacks while absorbing the exhilarating views of Humantay (5,900m/19,356ft) and Salkantay (6,217m/20,396ft) mountain glaciers. Putting on our comfortable shoes, we take a 1-hour hike up to Humantay Lake enjoying the amazing views around us. Upon arrival at Humantay, we take time to explore the lake and enjoy its beauty. After time at Humantay Lake, we head back to the trailhead at Soraypampa and then hike 2 more hour to our campsite located at Soyroccocha. There we enjoy tea time and later dinner. We get to sleep early, ready for the next day’s hike.
After a scrumptious breakfast, get ready to take a moderate climb on your second day of trekking. Within an hour, you will reach the highest point of the trek (4,650m/15,367ft). From here, we relax and take in nature at its purest form, feeling at one with the massive Salkantay (6,217m/20,717ft), Humantay, and Huayanay snowcapped mountains, the white rugged rivers of the area and the small humble lakes. Off the main trek route, we take a side trek for half an hour to enjoy the panoramic and truly exquisite turquoise Salkantay Lake. Returning to our primary trek route, we hike down to our original trailhead, where we have our lunch, and then we take our van back to Cusco arriving at about 6pm in the evening.
